About Us

The Henfield Area Response Team (HART)

 - are a group of local residents who provide support to the Sussex Ambulance Service NHS Trust by responding early to serious medical and other life threatening conditions, including Heart Attacks, Drowning, Unconsciousness and Severe Bleeding

These responders, trained by the Sussex Ambulance Service do not replace the ambulance service but at their request, attend the scene prior to the ambulance arrival thus reduce the delay of providing skills such as Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and Defibrillation

H.A.R.T. members are unpaid and provide their time, training and travel costs free as a service to your community. The equipment costs are provided by local donations and the plan for Henfield is to provide 10 sets of equipment, including defibrillators at a cost of over £20,000. A lot of money but this will enable the team to give a 24 hour cover and perhaps for the first time give our families friends and neighbours in Henfield a chance of survival.

‘Sudden’ Death

 - in any community is a catastrophic event, particularly to close family and friends. There are very few people in any community who are not aware of someone they love, or know well, often apparently well, dying suddenly and without warning in this way.

In any town, but especially villages such as Henfield there will always be delays in providing emergency care - and time costs lives.

With the appropriate equipment and skills a number of people in Henfield can be saved - but time is critical!
