Public access defibrillators

JULY 2022   GREAT NEWS- our appeal has been successful and we have now relocated all appropriate defibrillators to external walls for 24 hour access.  A few still remain only accessible during business hours but in areas served by other accessible defibrillators.  Thank you to everyone who has helped.

However we still need funds to maintain these defibrillators - each costs over £80 per year in supplies... any donation is gratefully received. - check out our DONATION page.

ORIGINAL APPEAL:
Every one of the many public access defibrillators sited around our village(s) has to be maintained.  This costs on average £80 per defibrillator per year (replacement pads costs around £30 a set and last two or three years & a replacement battery costs around £300 and again lasts around three to four years  depending on the make of instrument).   Public donations have helped us maintain the many defibrillators meaning that they are ready for action when needed in an emergency.

HOWEVER, a defibrillator is not a lot of use in an emergency if it is housed inside a building which closes at night!   To alleviate this situation, wherever possible, HART is committed to move the defibrillators outside buildings in order to improve accessibility.  Regrettably this will require the purchase and installation (including an electricity supply to a small internal heating element to protect the battery) of specialised protective external boxes which cost around £500 apiece.

If you are able to assist us by contributing to the purchase of these boxes, we would be grateful for any donation.  More importantly the defibrillator will be there and accessible when needed by YOU, YOUR NEIGHBOUR or YOUR FAMILY.   Contact us for more information on giving to HART or running a fundraising activity.
